The children of the eight victims who tragically lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash have been awarded full scholarships, thanks to a collaboration between B5 Plus Group and DPS International School.

The announcement was made during a formal ceremony held at the Office of the Chief of Staff, where Mr. Julius Debrah accepted the scholarship package on behalf of the bereaved families.

Under this compassionate initiative, two children from each affected family will receive full educational scholarships to attend DPS International School in Tema. The package includes tuition, school uniforms, boarding (where needed), and other essential school supplies—from basic education through to A-Levels.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah lauded the gesture, describing it as a remarkable example of private sector commitment to national development and social responsibility.

Former Attorney-General and Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, also praised the initiative. She emphasized the long-term impact of investing in the education of the children and highlighted the high academic standards of DPS International.

She noted that one of the school’s distinguished alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie—son of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II—is currently studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.

According to her, the scholarship scheme will be warmly welcomed by the President as a fitting tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic crash.
