Alhaji Sofo Azorka, the National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault that occurred during the Akwatia by-election on September 2, 2025.

Azorka is accused of physically assaulting Masawudu Osman, the Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during tensions that erupted at the polling center.
🔹 Legal Status
Following his arrest, Azorka was cautioned and granted bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for formal arraignment on September 16, 2025.
🔹 Ongoing Investigation
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that investigations are underway and pledged to maintain law and order throughout the process.
“We are committed to conducting a fair and thorough investigation and ensuring that justice is served,” a police spokesperson stated.

Azorka is expected to report to the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Kyebi on the court date for the commencement of legal proceedings.
