The Black Stars of Ghana have officially booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a narrow but crucial 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.

Mohammed Kudus, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, delivered the match-winning goal early in the second half, ending Ghana’s recent struggles against Comoros after back-to-back defeats to the island nation.

The win marks Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance since their historic debut in 2006.

The match also saw the much-anticipated return of defender Alidu Seidu, who earned a starting spot after recovering from a long-term ACL injury. The Stade Rennes player’s impressive comeback this season was rewarded with a recall to the national team.

Also making a notable appearance was Ebenezer Annan of French Ligue 2 side Saint-Étienne, who started at left wing-back in place of veteran Gideon Mensah.

In goal, Benjamin Asare, who has faced ongoing questions about his readiness for the global stage, silenced critics with a composed performance and a clean sheet to help Ghana secure qualification.

With the victory, Ghana confirms its participation in the 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States—renewing national pride and raising hopes for a strong showing on football’s biggest stage.
