Holders Barcelona stormed into the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia with a stunning 5-0 victory over Athletic Club.
The 15-time winners scored four goals in just 16 minutes, putting the game beyond doubt before half-time and becoming the first team in history to net four first-half goals in a Spanish Super Cup semi-final.
Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a close-range finish, before Fermin Lopez unleashed a thunderous strike into the top corner. Roony Bardghji’s fierce shot squirmed under goalkeeper Unai Simon, and Raphinha fired a precise shot into the roof of the net to give Barcelona a commanding 4-0 lead by the 38th minute.
Raphinha added his second goal just four minutes into the second half, making it 5-0 with Simon unable to stop the Brazilian star.
Barcelona maintained control for the remainder of the match, marking their ninth consecutive win across all competitions. Hansi Flick’s side will now face either Atletico Madrid or 13-time winners Real Madrid, who clash on Thursday at 19:00 GMT.
The final is set for Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, following an extension of the tournament deal between the Saudi authorities and the Spanish Football Federation, keeping the Super Cup in the country until 2029.
