Former Vice President and NPP flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, September 14, Dr. Bawumia described Apostle Safo as more than just a religious leader—celebrating him as a visionary innovator, philanthropist, and nation builder.
“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a pioneering Ghanaian innovator and the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.
He praised Apostle Safo’s groundbreaking work in promoting indigenous technology and advancing industrialization in Ghana. He also highlighted the Apostle’s far-reaching philanthropic efforts, which touched countless lives across the country.
“As a religious leader, his open arms always welcomed me. Whenever I visited, I left with words of wisdom and encouragement that stayed with me,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia extended his condolences to the bereaved family, members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all who are mourning the passing of the man fondly known as the “Star of Africa.”
He concluded with a message of hope, praying that Apostle Safo’s legacy will endure and serve as a source of inspiration for future generations—to believe in local innovation, serve their communities, and always put Ghana first.
