President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has broken his silence on the recent arrests of #StopGalamsey protesters, stating unequivocally that he had no hand in their detention.

In an interview with France 24 TV monitored by APmediagh.com, Akufo-Addo attributed the arrests to the protesters’ misconduct, which allegedly threatened national peace and stability.

“The courts in Ghana are independent institutions. People misconduct themselves and they’re brought before court. It has nothing to do with politics or the executive,” Akufo-Addo emphasized.

However, some protesters were arrested and are currently awaiting trial.
