Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has outlined what he believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must do to return to power in the 2028 general elections.

He said the party’s chances of winning the next election would depend largely on building a strong, united and well-coordinated organisation, particularly at the grassroots level.

Afenyo-Markin made the remarks after meeting newly elected Regional Organisers, Regional Women Organisers, Regional Youth Organisers and Regional Nasara Organisers during an orientation session.

According to the Effutu MP, the four groups play a crucial role in the party’s mobilisation, organisation and engagement with voters across the country.

He said the NPP must strengthen its internal coordination and rebuild its relationship with supporters if it wants to regain power.

“Yesterday, I joined our newly elected Regional Organisers, Regional Women Organisers, Regional Youth Organisers and Regional Nasara Organisers for an orientation session as we continue the work of reorganising and strengthening our Party,” he said.

Afenyo-Markin stressed that the party’s rebuilding process must begin from the grassroots and extend to every region and constituency.

“Our return to power will require a strong, united and well-coordinated Party, built from the grassroots up. These four groups occupy a critical place in that effort. They are at the heart of our organisation, mobilisation and engagement across the country,” he added.

He identified stronger coordination, deeper unity and renewed engagement with grassroots supporters as key priorities for the party ahead of 2028.

“The task ahead is clear. We must strengthen coordination, deepen unity, reconnect with our grassroots and organise effectively in every region and constituency to secure victory for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP in 2028,” he stated.

The comments come as the NPP continues its internal reorganisation and preparations for the next general elections, with the party seeking to rebuild its structures and regain the confidence of voters after its defeat in the 2024 polls.
