The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has published details of 355 West African nationals either facing deportation or already deported, including 30 Ghanaians linked to various criminal offences.
The list, released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), includes photographs, names and the alleged crimes committed by the affected individuals.
According to DHS, the publication forms part of efforts to showcase the individuals targeted under the Trump administration’s ongoing deportation programme, which focuses on removing immigrants accused or convicted of serious criminal offences.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations starting with the worst of the worst,” the department stated.
Among the Ghanaians named on the list is Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Montrage, popularly known as Haji4Real, who has already been deported to Ghana.
According to the details released by ICE, Haji4Real was listed for fraud-related offences and was arrested in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before her deportation.
The DHS said the publication is intended to demonstrate its focus on deporting individuals linked to serious criminal activities as part of broader immigration enforcement efforts across the United States.
The release of the list has generated widespread discussion, particularly in West African communities, as authorities continue to intensify immigration enforcement and deportation operations targeting non-citizens convicted of crimes.
