Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed his determination to lead the party back to power in the 2028 general elections.
He gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when a group of party delegates visited his private residence to express their support and confidence in his leadership.
Addressing the delegates, Dr. Bawumia said their actions had strengthened the party’s position ahead of the next election cycle. “You have saved the party by your action. The message is out there, and in 2028, it cannot be used against us; rather, it will give us strength,” he stated.
He pledged his full commitment to the party’s cause, vowing to work relentlessly to secure victory. “Because you have reposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to bring power back to the NPP,” he declared.
The former Vice President emphasized that party unity would be crucial to success, arguing that the NPP has the numerical advantage to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members unite behind a common goal.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC. All we need is unity. In 2024, some of our members did not vote. If we are able to bring everyone on board, we can win,” he said.
Describing the party’s current efforts as the beginning of a new phase, Dr. Bawumia urged supporters to remain committed and actively participate in rebuilding the party ahead of 2028.
“Our task is clear. We are moving into phase two, and I urge all of you to support us in this effort,” he added.
