President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ethical leadership, integrity, and service to the Ghanaian people, with particular attention to the youth, vulnerable groups, and citizens who feel left out of the country’s development process.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service at Jubilee House in Accra to mark his return to office, President Mahama stressed the need for leadership that places service above self and governance rooted in integrity, competence, and compassion. He emphasised the importance of listening to the concerns of all citizens, especially marginalised groups.

According to the President, national progress should not be judged solely by statistics and economic indicators, but also by the restoration of hope, trust, and confidence in leadership. While reflecting on achievements recorded so far, he acknowledged that significant work still lies ahead.

“The work we have begun is far from finished, but progress is measured not only by numbers and charts. It is also measured by hope restored, trust rebuilt, and the right direction regained,” he noted.

President Mahama underscored national unity as a critical pillar for effective governance, urging Ghanaians to rise above political, social, and religious differences in pursuit of the common good. He warned that the year ahead would be demanding, testing the nation’s resolve and discipline, but also presenting opportunities to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate development.

He called on public officials and citizens alike to approach leadership as a form of stewardship, guided by humility, empathy, and courage.

The thanksgiving service, held at the seat of government, brought together government officials, traditional leaders, and religious representatives. It marked one year of President Mahama’s administration, which has prioritised economic stabilisation, inclusive governance, and the reinforcement of ethical standards across state institutions.
