More than 150 individuals, predominantly young men, were arrested in a joint police and military operation in Ghana’s Ahafo Region early Wednesday morning.

The coordinated security exercise targeted Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District and Hwediem in the Asutifi South District.

Security sources confirm that the suspects have been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra for further questioning and investigation.

While details about the operation remain limited, it follows heightened security alerts after the recent NAIMOS–Bronikrom clash, which involved violent confrontations between anti-illegal mining officers and unidentified youths.

Residents in both districts reported seeing heavily armed police and military personnel conducting dawn raids, inspecting homes, and screening individuals.

An official statement has not yet been issued, but local authorities indicate that the operation is part of broader efforts to maintain peace and stability in the Ahafo Region.
