The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the robbery and murder of a 15-year-old housekeeper in Aduman, Kodie Municipality.

The suspects, Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, facing provisional charges of robbery and murder. They were remanded in prison and are scheduled to reappear on November 25, 2025.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025, when the complainant left his tricycle at his home in Aduman Old Town and traveled to Kumasi. Upon his return that evening, he discovered that both the tricycle and two housekeepers — Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15 — were missing.

A police statement on October 30 revealed that Abacha had planned to steal the tricycle and lured the victims under the pretense of transporting firewood from his farm. “After leading them into a bush, he attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicting multiple wounds before fleeing with the tricycle,” the statement said.

Investigations showed that Abacha later contacted Eric, and the two hid the tricycle at Aboabogya Cemetery before selling it to a third suspect, identified only as Balawe, who remains at large.

The next morning, Yankyira was found unconscious in a cocoa farm near Aduman Old Town Cemetery with deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear. He was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Maase-Offinso for treatment. Boateng’s body was found nearby with similar injuries. Police recovered a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack and conveyed the deceased’s body to the hospital for autopsy.

Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu through an intelligence-led operation and subsequently led officers to apprehend Eric at Aboabogya. Both suspects reportedly admitted their involvement during interrogation.

Police are continuing efforts to arrest Balawe and recover the stolen tricycle. The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to provide information leading to the arrest of the remaining suspect, contacting the nearest police station or calling 191, 18555, or 112.
