A nine-month-old baby has tragically died following a dog attack at a property in Rogiet, Monmouthshire, according to Gwent Police.
Incident Details and Police Response
The incident occurred at a residence on Crossway at approximately 18:00 GMT on Sunday.
- Officers and paramedics immediately responded to the scene in the quiet residential street in south-east Wales.
- Gwent Police confirmed that the dog involved in the attack was seized and removed from the address.
- Police are currently working to establish the breed of the animal.
- As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatality.
Ch Supt John Davies confirmed the ongoing investigation, stating, “Officers are on scene and will be making further inquiries as the investigation progresses.”

The local community is reportedly in utter disbelief and shock following the death of the infant. Residents reported seeing numerous police cars and ambulances descending on the normally quiet street at the time of the incident.
By 22:00 GMT, the main police cordon had been lifted, with most emergency vehicles departing. However, the scene remained active with scenes of crime investigation vehicles and two police officers guarding the house on Crossway. The street was described as silent, save for the ambient noise from the nearby M4 motorway and the South Wales to London train line.
