The Accra Regional Police Command has arraigned nine individuals before the Adabraka District Court in connection with a violent assault on a man, Mutala Yayaa, in Darkuman on September 10, 2025.
The brutal attack, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, shows Yayaa being assaulted by a group of men wielding weapons.
The suspects—Bernard Tagoe (alias Asa Sese), Nii Eric Martey, Michael Lokko, Felix Adu Mensah, Habib Gusamu, Solomon Assan, Kwame Khalid, Jacob Addy, and Gideon Arthur—allegedly used a cutlass, axe, and scissors to inflict serious injuries on the victim’s head and body.
Four other suspects remain at large.
All nine accused have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm. They have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on September 29, 2025.
Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects—identified as Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km—to aid in ongoing investigations.
In an official statement dated September 19, 2025, the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Regional Police, Ms. Juliana Obeng, condemned the use of violence to resolve disputes and urged the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of conflict resolution.
