Ghana’s validated road network totaled 94,203 kilometres at the end of 2025, with 44 per cent of these roads classified as being in good condition, Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza has revealed.
Mr. Agbodza said 34 per cent of roads were rated as fair, while 22 per cent remain in poor condition.
“As of today, the road network characteristics show that the length of roads within our inventory is 94,203 km. Out of that, 44 per cent is in good condition, 34 per cent is fair, and 22 per cent is in poor condition,” he stated.
He added that this data reflects the road network “as of the close of 2025,” and noted that a broader dataset covering approximately 137,000 kilometres is currently undergoing validation.
The minister said the figures underscore the government’s continued focus on road maintenance and rehabilitation, aimed at improving transport infrastructure and safety nationwide.
On efforts to revamp the sector, Mr. Agbodza disclosed that over GH¢10 billion in arrears had been cleared and paid to road contractors across the country by the end of December 2025.
